The first thesis work on ActionTrack is now available on Theseus.fi. The work was carried out by Heli Toivola, Lahti University of Applied Sciences. The next two thesis work publications on ActionTrack will be available later this year.

Abstract:

In this functional thesis, the purpose is get to know about diversified product development through practical experience and think if it is possible to create innovative products with diversified product development. The client in my thesis is Naantali Spa. The purpose of the thesis is also to develop Naantali Spa’s family tourism. Output of the thesis is the Action Track game product.

My thesis consists of theory part, which explains the growing meaning of games and how games and tourism can be combined. I also explain what the Action Track game means. Then I deal with the product development aspect of operational environment, customer orientation and the actual product. In the theory part, I also focus on dealing with diversified product development and family tourism.

Personal observation and personal experience in this firm is used as the basis for the product development. In the functional part I talk about observation and the process of product development. I also describe the Action Track product and its operational environment and target group.

The output of the thesis is the Action Track city orienteering game, which is used with a smart phone. The product added new content to the family tourism products of Naantali Spa. The new product was created with the help of diversified product development. Without that collaboration, the product couldn’t have been possible. The client has taken the product into his product selection and can develop it more in future.
