“Captain Sully’s Treasure Map” is a dynamic treasure/scavenger hunt targeted at families with children. The game is based on a pirate theme, and it uses a custom-made cartoon map instead of Google Maps.
In the beginning of the game, a time machine takes the player to the past. He soon meets two kids, Ingrid and Kalle, who have just found a pirates’ treasure map.
The treasure is placed on a rocky island. However, there is a guard protecting the treasure, and the player can pass him only if he knows the answers to some tricky questions. The questions are related to other locations on the map, so the player has to visit all of them before traveling to the island.
During the game, the player has to visit several dangerous places; solve riddles, puzzles, and mathematical Tasks; watch out for pirates and other bad guys; and help some friendly characters. While the game has been designed in such a way that everybody can collect the treasure in the end, the player can collect more points by performing the Tasks as quickly as possible.
The game uses visible and hidden QR codes and GPS navigation, depending on the real-life location where the game event takes place.
